Apply for Mytholmroyd Open 2019

The Calder Valley is famous for it’s artists! We’re talking about people who do two or three drawings a year, people who go to regular evening classes and people who have been making a living from their art for years. We’re all artists!

Mytholmroyd Open is a two day exhibition and is part of the Mytholmroyd Arts Festival. The Mytholmroyd Open is a great opportunity to show the world your work, to sell it and to compete for our famous prize.

You can submit up to three pieces – drawings, paintings, photos, textiles. Unfortunately, Mytholmroyd Open can’t display 3D objects. Submissions are open from 19/7/19 to 6/9/19

In October 2019, Mytholmroyd Arts will hold the third Mytholmroyd Open exhibition in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire during the Mytholmroyd Arts Festival. Submitted art work will be selected for exhibition by a judges panel, consisting of Moira Benoit and Francis Charlton. The judges will select a winner who will be awarded a prize of £200 There will also be prizes for the People’s Winner, and prizes for the Mytholmroyd Young Artists competition (prizes to be announced) judged by a People’s Vote during the exhibition.

Registration and on-line submission

ALL work must be submitted online, and will be subject to an administration fee of £10 for up to 3 works. Work submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. 

The submission process is as follows:

1 Choose the art works you want to submit, up to three per artist. You need one image per art work, Image files must be in JPG format at no more than 1MB in size and use your name as part of the file name . 

2 Fill in an online entry form which includes the opportunity to upload up to 3 digital images

3 Proceed to the payment site to pay your administration fee.

Submissions without payment will not be accepted.

If you require framing for work which has been selected by the judges for showing at the Mytholmroyd Open, Abacus Framers are offering a discount of 10% on presentation of a Mytholmroyd Open acceptance letter.

Judges Assessment

If you can not complete an on line submission. please contact us at

All work received by the deadline will be assessed by the panel of judges.  If your submitted work passes this assessment, you will be contacted by Friday 20 September and you will be invited to bring it along on the receiving days. Full delivery details will be sent to you with your invitation to exhibit. If you have not heard by this date, unfortunately you have not been successful.  Owing to limited resources, we will not be able to give feedback.
